Bible Reading: Luke 2:13-14
Yesterday we read about how the shepherds heard the wonderful news of Jesus’ birth. If you notice, it was one, single angel who delivered the message. However, the glory of the Lord shone around the shepherds….a wonderful beautiful bright glorious light of the Lord. They were enveloped. Surrounded. The hill side was lit up. This was other worldly. (Remember electric street lamps didn’t exist yet.)
After the angel’s message, suddenly, out-of-the-blue a great company, a multitude of angels appeared. You think that hillside was lit up before. Now the heavens are full. A host of angels, probably thousands upon thousands of angels, are praising God (Daniel 7:10 & Psalm 68:17).
The image is burned into your brain. This is a memory you will never forget. The shepherds are shown some of the wonders of heaven…angels.
As humble & lowly the birth of the Messiah was, God made sure that the world knew how royal & mighty the King of Kings truly is. Christ was heralded into this world with cries of glory. A heavenly celebration of reconciliation. Of Hope. Of Peace.
Celebrate the newborn Christ. Celebrate the coming of the King. Celebrate and let the whole world know. Ring the bells!
